Financial Support for Students with Individual Needs

CLIDE has received ERASMUS MUNDUS ‘individual needs’ funding from the EU to support successful applicants with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments.

This is available to both EMJM scholarship students and EMJM self-/other-funded students. The funding total for the four CLIDE editions (in 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029) is 120,000 euro and students, who are within the ‘individual needs’ group, can apply for support funding of over 3,000 euro and under 60,000 euro. Funding may be used as a contribution towards adapting environments and/or technology, services, assistance by third persons.

Please note that apportioning these funds will be at the discretion of the CLIDE Programme Board and may not cover the total amount of the costs for your request but will cover a substantial portion of the costs.

Please add a supplementary statement to your application stating if you are within this ‘individual needs’ group and describe what adaptations, services or travel/transportation support you require to enable you to study on CLIDE. You will also be required to submit a statement from a professional (consultant, doctor, psychiatrist, optician, audiologist, etc.) confirming your condition/needs.

Further details can be found in the ERASMUS+ programme guide

Contribution to individual needs of disabled students

Contribution for individual needs are eligible if they fulfil the general eligibility [entry requirements] conditions set in the grant agreement. They will be used for enrolled disabled students, with or without scholarship, (e.g., long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments), such as those related to the acquisition of special items or services (e.g., assistance by third persons, adaptation of work environment, additional travel/transportation costs). The support to cover such individual needs of enrolled students, will take the form of the following special needs unit costs:

(a) EUR 3 000
(b) EUR 4 500
(c) EUR 6 000
(d) EUR 9 500
(e) EUR 13 000
(f) EUR 18 500
(g) EUR 27 500
(h) EUR 35 500
(i) EUR 47 500
(j) EUR 60 000

Calculation of the unit cost contribution per student:
Enrolled students will declare what type of items/services are needed and their cost. The applicable unit cost will be identified as the rate corresponding to or immediately lower than the estimated expenses. This unit cost is a contribution and is not intended to fully cover the actual costs.

NB: costs below the lowest rate (i.e., less than EUR 3 000) will not be eligible for additional support and will have to be covered by the contribution to the institutional costs of the EMJM or by other funding sources of the beneficiary institutions.
